Afternoon can be little warm but we advise you to carry a jacket/Sweater in case it gets cold. You may expect morning drizzle so it is advice to carry an umbrella. We advise you to pack warm clothes with umbrella.

It is possible, however, to buy a SIM card at the airport or from local shops by showing your passport and visa. Micro SIM cards (for use in iPhone, Samsung Galaxy and other high-end smart phones) are available in Algeria, but most phone shops can professionally cut normal SIM cards to fit into a Micro SIM slot.

Electrical outlet in Algeria is 220-240 Volts, and electrical sockets tend to be one of the two European standard types: the ‘Type C’ Europlug and the ‘Type E’/‘Type F’ Schuko; some sockets take multiple plug types. It is advisable to take a universal adaptor that fits a variety of socket types.

The Algerian Diner DZD is the official currency of Algeria, with denomination of 2000, 1000, 500, 200, 100 with coins of 100, 50, 25 and 10 diners, The US dollar or euro, however, is widely used as an alternative currency, particularly for larger purchases: foreigners are often expected to pay in Diner for hotels, flights, train tickets and access to historical sites. If payment is made in Diner for these transactions, you can exchange at the airport or from hotels. We advise you not to exchange dollars from street vendors as counterfeited notes are very common with these vendors. ATM cards and Credit are limited to 4star or 5 Star hotels or major big stores but we advise you to carry enough USD or Euro for your expenses.

Obtaining a taxi in Algeria is not difficult to obtain. Taxis are available around hotel and exhibitions ground with fixed rates for each area; you are requested to negotiate with the driver before you board the taxi. You can also ask the hotel staff to arrange a taxi for you. The average cost will be USD 15 for a single tip upto 5- 6 Kms.
