  • About Ghana

  • Ghana is chosen for the following reasons:

Follow-up to the VVIP visits between India and Ghana
     Politically stable
Growing economy, business friendly environment, accessibility to other neighboring markets in the region using Ghana as the base country.
Opportunity to showcase strength of Indian industry to the new leadership and help industry connect with relevant who’s who in Ghana.
While India figures in the top 5 import destination for Ghana, the value of exports from India into Ghana is showing continuous decline over past 5 years except for 2013-14. Imports from Ghana continue to increase leading to negative trade balance for India.
Import commodity matrix of Ghana with the top global partners when compared with India’s export matrix clearly indicates the potential of Ghanian market to absorb increased exports from India as well as the ability of Indian industry to export the same.
Ghana has been preparing to implement the ECOWAS Common External Tariff (CET), a major platform for a Customs Union that facilitates free trade and ensures greater regional economic integration. Industry will have a wider reach in the sub-region using Ghana as the base.
Ability of the country to contribute towards energy and food security of India
Sustained efforts are needed to maintain India’s lead in this market, due to growing presence of other major foreign players arrest the slide in exports from India to Ghana and to further push the exports to not just Ghana but entire West Africa using Ghana as the hub.
The leaders of both the countries during the recent visits have emphasized upon the need to leverage the two countries economic interactions to $ 5 billion by 2020.
